Giving Thanks

Right now, many of you are probably finalizing your Thanksgiving menus or travel plans if you’re headed out of town for the holiday. And although we all have our own ways in which we will observe the day, gratitude — along with lots of food — will likely be at the heart of the celebrations.

While Thanksgiving is a time to come together with friends and loved ones, it’s also a time to reflect. Looking back, I know this year has been filled with successes as well as challenges and I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for all that your hospitals do.

Thanks to the expertise, compassion, and resilience of every single one of you — from skilled clinicians to dedicated support staff — your communities continue to receive the care they need. Your collective efforts are nothing short of remarkable. Your unwavering dedication to providing quality care, comfort, and hope is a testament to your professionalism and compassion.

In the face of adversity, and I know the challenges are many — workforce shortages, workplace violence, financial, discharge delays, and more — you have demonstrated an incredible spirit. You’ve shown up every day, ready to make a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families.

I hope you find time to gather and enjoy the simple pleasures that often go unnoticed in the rush of our daily lives. Whether you are celebrating at home with family, with your colleagues at work, or elsewhere — I wish each and every one of you a happy Thanksgiving!
