The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to appoint Ebony Shelton as the new chief administrative officer (CAO), which became effective on June 14. Shelton is the first Afro-Latina in county history to serve in the role and has nearly 20 years of experience working for the county. As CAO, Shelton is responsible for implementing the board’s policies and running the county’s daily operations, which include over 20,000 employees who serve approximately 3.3 million people in the region.
