Positive Outlook Helps Patient Recover 

During a spin class, Rafael Nenninger’s heart had suddenly stopped beating. It was the start of a difficult recovery.

Rafael Nenninger regularly swam, played tennis, and worked out. When he experienced shortness of breath, he figured it was nothing. His heart suddenly stopped beating during a spin class.  

Paramedics rushed Rafael to the emergency room, where he was resuscitated. Doctors at Sharp Memorial Hospital determined Rafael needed a heart transplant for a chance at survival. The severity of his cardiac issues also caused kidney failure.
