A Time to Rest, Recharge, and Renew Our Commitment to Collective Advocacy

Next week, many of us will gather with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving — a holiday that not only allows us to pause and express gratitude but also invites us to reflect on the impact of our collective work to uplift our communities.

This year has undoubtedly been a challenging year for hospitals. Yet, there were still uplifting moments. From the completion of our 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment to our behavioral health analysis report — and through our daily work with hospitals, community partners, and local leaders — our team is grateful to have been able to listen to the needs of our community, stay connected with one another, and support the work you do every day.

This devotion to serving our community is not unique to your association team; it is driven by the health care workers and community members who have relentlessly poured themselves into caring for patients. In a field fraught with challenges and a constantly shifting landscape, it is no easy feat to spend days in the service of others. Whether you are on the front lines directly working with patients or behind the scenes working to ensure that hospital operations run smoothly, we commend you for continuing to show up for your community — day in and day out.

As we give thanks for health care workers and community members this holiday season, we hope you’ll join us tomorrow at the 2025 HASD&IC Annual Meeting — an opportunity to honor our collective efforts and prepare for what lies ahead. Your voice and leadership are essential to shaping the future of health care.

As hospitals continue to face pressures on multiple fronts, there has never been a more important time to rest, recharge, and renew our commitment to the vital work ahead. On behalf of the HASD&IC team, I hope your Thanksgiving holiday is filled with connection, comfort, and spent with those who lift you up. By staying grounded in community, leaning on others for support, and appreciating what we do have, we can find the strength and courage to face the challenges ahead together.
