When college student Juan learned he needed a kidney transplant, the care team at Scripps came to his aid and found a suitable donor. Ten years later, Juan’s kidney is still holding strong.
Juan was enjoying a “normal” college life at UC Riverside when a routine physical revealed that he was in kidney failure. After a nephrologist referred him for a kidney transplant, Juan began dialysis while awaiting a donor. Then the care team at Scripps came to his aid, finding a donor and undergoing kidney transplant surgery. Ten years later, Juan remains appreciative of the Scripps team, whose help gave him a future that includes public speaking, playing soccer, and being married to his best friend, Daisy.
