Honoring Those Who Served on Veterans Day

Next week, on Veterans Day, we pause to honor the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of the men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces.

Here in San Diego and Imperial counties, military service is deeply woven into the fabric of our communities. Home to a significant population of veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families, our region has a longstanding connection to those who serve our country.

Across the region, veterans are part of our everyday lives: neighbors, colleagues, loved ones, and patients. Supporting veterans begins with understanding their unique needs and ensuring access to care close to home. And hospitals are honored to play that role.

From emergency and trauma services to behavioral health care, specialty care, and community-based care, HASD&IC member hospitals — including Naval Medical Center San Diego, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, and the VA San Diego Healthcare System — play an essential role in ensuring that those who have answered the call to serve receive the care they deserve.

At the same time, veterans are also an important part of the teams that deliver care, carrying their commitment to service from the front lines into hospitals. Throughout our hospitals, veterans bring leadership, resilience, teamwork, and a commitment to service that strengthens patient care and enriches our communities.

This Veterans Day, we extend our sincere gratitude to all who have served, to those currently serving, and to the families who support them. We offer special recognition to the veterans working throughout our hospitals who have continued their commitment to serving others through careers in health care.

Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your continued contributions to the health and well-being of San Diego and Imperial counties.
