The HASD&IC Board of Directors convened on Jan. 18. Board Chair Patrick Frias, MD, President & CEO of Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego, officiated. The other 2023 officers are as follows:
- Tom Gammiere, FACHE, Corporate SVP/Regional Chief Executive – South, Scripps Health (Past Chair)
- Patty Maysent, MPH, MBA, Chief Executive Officer, UC San Diego Health (Chair-Elect)
- Diane Hansen, CPA, President & CEO, Palomar Health (Secretary)
- Brett McClain, Executive Vice President/COO, Sharp HealthCare (Treasurer)
Appreciation was expressed to Steve Dietlin of Tri-City Healthcare District for his leadership and service to the board. Steve will be retiring in March. Board members approved the appointment of Frank P. Pearson, DPT, PA-C, director at VA San Diego Healthcare System, as a member of the board. Polly King, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, clinical care line-perinatology of Scripps Health, was welcomed and will be attending meetings as a representative nurse leader. Thank you to Laurie Ecoff of Sharp HealthCare, who previously served in that role.
Special guest Chad Mulvany, vice president, federal policy at the California Hospital Association, provided an overview of the Medicare wage index, data and calculations, selected market values, and reform efforts. Other agenda items included updates on regional advocacy priorities, emergency medical services, the community health needs assessment, and state/federal priority issues.
