Catalyst of San Diego & Imperial Counties has announced that applications are open for the new San Diego Resilient Response Fund. The fund is a collective effort by local funders, created to provide timely, flexible funding for organizations navigating the impacts of shifting federal policies and funding. Nonprofits may apply for funding in one of four categories: event and meeting support, immediate organizational needs, strategic response, or collaborative response.

The San Diego Hunger Coalition has released new data showing that nutrition insecurity in San Diego County has increased to pandemic-era levels, with 26% of the population now facing hunger. This surge is driven by multiple factors: fear due to intensive immigration enforcement activity, widespread layoffs, the elimination of federally funded programs, and concerns about a potential recession. San Diego County Housing and Community Development Services seeks the community’s input on how to prioritize funding for housing, community improvements, and economic development initiatives. This feedback will be used to develop the 2026-27 Annual Plan, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Feedback is welcome online and at various community and virtual events, the last of which will take place via Microsoft Teams on June 20.
The Imperial County Board of Supervisors has appointed Kathleen Lang, DPA, as the new county executive officer, effective June 27. Previously, Dr. Lang served as a representative of HealthNet and worked with the Imperial County Local Health Authority Commission, where she led implementation of the California Accountable Communities for Health Initiative, the Whole Person Care Initiative, the Health Home Program, and the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal initiative. Given her extensive background, Dr. Lang is poised to lead Imperial County into its next chapter.
