Associate Member Spotlight: Grossmont Healthcare District
Supporting the health and wellness of East County.
In 1952, the Grossmont Healthcare District – known at that time as Grossmont Hospital District – was formed to build and operate Grossmont Hospital and take care of the health care needs of San Diego’s East County region. In 1991, the district board leased the hospital operations to Sharp HealthCare. The affiliation agreement included the establishment of a nonprofit entity, Grossmont Hospital Corporation.

Associate Member Spotlight: Community Health Group
Community Health Group, founded in 1982 by a Federally Qualified Health Center, is the only San Diego-based, not-for-profit managed care plan serving California Medi-Cal beneficiaries. Today, they serve nearly 410,000 members throughout San Diego County. When Proposition 1 passed in March 2024, a bond was approved to finance new investments in housing and treatment for Californians experiencing mental health conditions and substance use disorders. The Department of Health Care Services will make applications available in July, when both nonprofit and for-profit hospitals will be eligible to apply. All types of facilities that serve people with behavioral health needs can be established with these grants; everything from outpatient clinics and partial hospitalization programs to inpatient care and crisis stabilization will be eligible.
